Why is it called a bathroom in America, there are no baths in it! They are lavatory pans or toilets not bathrooms.
Why do they call it the Loo in the UK? You could technically take a bath in there :)

Re: SoftMaker Free Office now available

In an earlier post I linked a Twitter comment from Softmaker that they are adding 'doc' format to Freeoffice like they have in the paid version. After the updates the only differences I can think of between paid and free version will be that the paid version offers a dark theme, and the icons don't ...

Re: Which door do I take?

Re: Chromebooks

An Acer C720 with 4gb ram would be good at the right price. Ram is the big problem with older Chromebooks. Also stick to intel cpu for a better Linux experience. I bought a HP 14 Chromebook that looks rough for $35. Surprisingly the battery is still pretty good. I had MX on it for awhile, then Debia...

Re: What Linux Needs To Do To Reach The Masses.

While microsoft and google sit on the Linux board Linux is going nowhere. Why would they want to promote their opposition just look at their past track record.. Yeah, I'm not convinced Microsoft has ever really changed its tune about Linux. I can't even get Outlook to deliver email to me from Linux...

Re: Chromebooks

I haven't checked to see if it is the same processor but I have completely replaced chrome in my similar Toshiba cb35 and I am very pleased with it. I had a CB35. Be very careful with that lid, watch for micro-cracks along the sides 3-4 inches up from the base. They made the plastic cover over the ...

Many thanks for the link.
Let us know if you get MX on the laptop. Looks like MrChromebox firmware will work on that machine.

Re: Chromebooks

No experience with a Bay Trail cpu, but I've installed Debian and MX on Haswel cpu Chromebooks. You have to first figure out what write-protection the bios uses, then flash the bios so you can install Linux on it. Would be great if you can increase that eMMC storage. I would first look here for info...

Re: Genealogy Software

I have to say that I find such things as just part of the entertainment. People will be people... and people do such things. The strangeness, to me, is that so many people believe they come from people who didn't behave like people. It's creating lots of awkward situations and conversations. People...
