Re: Which door do I take?

Actually, it is called a dunny (indoors or out, the latter possibly a long drop) here, or loo, or toilet if you insist......

Re: Which door do I take?

I would assume door left was a skirt and door right was suggesting muscular shoulders, based upon the symbols I am familiar with. People Downunder are still a bit anxious about non-binary gender allocation, although single cubicle unisex toilets are common in public locations, perhaps maximising ava...

Re: How to Send Text Messages From Your PC

Perhaps FB/Messenger could provide a solution but generally speaking, spoofing a phone ID and generating a text is something reserved for nickel magnates and marketers right? But, since Messenger and regular text can be handled by the same app on a smart phone and become somewhat indistingui...

Re: FBReader path?

I am likewise reading a lot of regular books on my phone via a big brand app, although many of the books I do want to study a bit further seem best viewed on a larger screen at times eg.early European explorations of Australia where maps and sketches are available, but also because of the portabilit...

Re: FBReader path?

~/ is a common "shorthand" for one's home directory, so you would create a directory in home called FBooks and put your ebooks there. Aha, thanks kindly. It works fine after copying to a user sub-directory. Perhaps I need to use ../media/data/Calibre or something similar to get FBReader to use a fo...

FBReader path? [Solved]

I gave a friend some ebooks I obtained from Project Gutenburg, copying over my Calibre library but found it a bit confusing to set up for them using the default FBReader. Calibre is familiar to me and has a much easier and informative interface and features like bulk conversion. I was a bit stumped ...

Re: Using my MX live USB on windows to transfer file

I would recommend just using a second USB to store common 'data'.

Re: Can my system use the ram installed

Why not just try the RAM, using tech specs available, running a live USB? Just use inxi -F and see what RAM capacity is shown.
I think something like MS might use slightly different amounts of RAM in some cases but essentially it comes down to hardware right?

Re: Can we get a "NEWBIE" section

A transcript of videos is always a possible strategy, potentially with screenshots. The powerpoint with notes and slides style more or less. It is a lot to expect from one person but a transcriber then translator could accommodate those requiring German, French, Spanish etc. The main thrust of some ...

Re: Can we get a "NEWBIE" section

Although this is a bit out-of-date and some things have been consolidated into MX Tweak, the following sort of blog is aimed at getting newer users up and running so far as desktop changes and similar basic tasks. http://mxlinuxguide.blogspot.com/ This sort of thing, alongside the video guides, coul...
