Re: What was your first Linux distro?

RedHat 5.2, Jan 1998. After jumping to Mandrake, Slackware, Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian, SUSE, and Arch over time, I stabilized in the Debian world probably 5-6 years ago.

Professionally, RHEL 3 and 4, March 2006 (I came from Solaris and a smattering of other commercial UNIX variants).

Re: Millennial Dads and DIY

Our house is a fixer-upper, and we have a family, I don't get a choice. :)

Re: Difference between antiX and MX

Openbox antiX? That would be great! antiXbang? crunchX? I did once run the BunsenLabs (bunsenlabs.org) install atop an antiX install. Everything worked except the custom exit dialog, which depends on systemd. That would just be a matter of rewriting the openbox config to use its own exit command.

Re: The future ?

In our house, all of the textbooks all stay at home-- but then, so do the kids. :) The thing about ebooks is in that BBC article up there-- unless you download them from the Gutenberg Project, you don't actually own them. They belong to Amazon/MS/B&N/whomever and they can be erased anytime. It's lik...

Re: Cisco Anyconnect VPN

You need to install openconnect and network-manager-openconnect-gnome. sudo apt install openconnect network-manager-openconnect-gnome (it might be in MXPI somewhere... but I've never used it.) and after a logout/login, there should be an option under NetworkManager (where the wifi/wired net icon is)...
