Re: USB with persistence upgrade question?

what remastering means or how to do it. You can find it under Menu=> MX Tools. Remastering takes your changes into the squashfs (you know, live usb is a compressed file system aka "squashed f s ..." So, your changes that you want to be permanent will be added into the squashed f. s. (like adding mo...

Re: USB with persistence upgrade question?

If you've been allowing upgrades to run all along and occasionally remastering you're already at 18.3. Quick System Info will show you the version of MX you have. If you haven't been allowing the upgrades to run, the issue will be that the sheer number of them will fill your rootfs and there may bn...

USB with persistence upgrade question?

I have a flash drive with MX 17 with persistence on it. I was wondering if I went through the normal procedure of updating it in the update manager if it would upgrade to MX 18 like my Desktop and laptop did or would there be any special consideration I need to think about before I attempt to do so ?

Re: New Convert

Perhaps worth bearing in mind that if you are like me you want know as much as you can about anything you use, but Linux is such a big subject that the best approach might be to just learn what you need to enjoy your OS. After all, how many car drivers nowadays have any understanding of what goes o...

There currently are Linux Chrome based browsers. So why not.
That is true and it is a good question but from what I hear Edge has not been a good web browser. I wouldn't know because I quit using windows before it came out. Most likely having a Linux version of Edge could only improve it.

Re: Someone thinks firefox is better than Chrome now...

From the bit and pieces of what I've been hearing; Firefox might be headed in that direction as well. I've be thinking about the Brave browser but it seems like they have a few thing to work out yet but their getting there. I noticed you said you use palemoon at home. How do you like it?

Librem 5 Phone

I have been becoming increasingly aware of how insecure using an android or i- phone can be for the common user. So when I came across some information about the Librem 5 phone I was interested. I did some reading about this phone on the purism web site and I thought the basic concept for this phone...

Re: unable to update after Kernel upgrade

Yes, that's exactly what a completed upgrade looks like. Thanks for the report. The file you had been unable to download had accidentally been moved to a different directory on the server. Took seconds to correct once I knew it wasn't where it belonged. Glad the problem is solved on both ends. Than...
