Re: [No longer SOLVED]No Wireless HP 245 G6 Laptop

Have you ever run memtest from the grub boot menu? Also look at gsmartcontrol's status of your disks and run its quick tests. It sounds like you may possibly have an issue with an item of hardware going bad. Also if you're able to run System/Sensor Viewer do so and look for heat-related issues. You ...

Re: Distrowatch reveiw grumbles

The old software did it for me. Very poor development platform if you need the latest thing. Nobody wants my work unless I am compiling the latest LibreOffice/ Openoffice. Frustrating.
I wonder what this even means, and what the person expects from a distro based on Debian (old)stable?

Re: My computer upgrade

OK, I'll move that fan to the upper spot tomorrow and see if there's an improvement. Re: the cables, I'll only do that if I can do so without having to remove the motherboard first. Maybe I can feed them through a hole, remove the other side of the case, then route them to where they need to go. Oth...

Re: [No longer SOLVED]No Wireless HP 245 G6 Laptop

It sounds like your netbook's hardware is newer than that supported by Debian Oldstable/Stretch. You could try the following in the order in which they're listed: Install the newest available kernel, which might better support your new hardware, then boot with it (look in advanced options in the gru...

Re: Viewer Installation Problem

You didn't follow instructions. Well, anyway it seems to be an ext4 filesystem which does support symlinks. Try running tar xJf myarchive.tar.xz in a terminal, changing "myarchive.tar.xz" to the name of your actual archive , and see if it extracts properly. Regarding your second screenshot, ...

Re: MX 17 & 18 Repository: the birdtray thread

FYI I don't particularly care about using xulrunner, I just wanted to try that firetray email notifier that Eadwine Rose mentioned instead of birdtray. While birdtray is working OK for me, I had to add a short delay before it autostarts to get it to autostart at all, and when it runs it automaticall...

Re: My computer upgrade

...and my dust filter arrived from China already! I wasn't expecting it until the end of this week or early next week and I certainly didn't expect delivery on a Sunday. Now that I've learned that my rear case fan is exhaust, not intake, I put the filter over the front intake fan instead of where I'...

Re: Viewer Installation Problem

Thanks for fixing that. It looks like you're running MX on a persistent live USB, correct? Or is it a small partition on your WD /dev/nvme0n1?
