Re: Mate DE with all MX tools working?

How to install MATE in MX?

1. open MX Packageinstaller >> Popular Apps tab.

2. Go to the Desktop Environments category, tick the checkbox for MATE, install it.

Re: Mate DE with all MX tools working?

Well, the default MX dark theme is Arc-Dark. That should work well with MATE, since it's a versatile theme that has all the necessary bits and bobs for cinnamon, mate, openbox, xfce, gnome3, etc. Metacity should be the MATE-specific parts of the Arc theme. ksnip_20190826-021101.png You just can't ap...

Re: MX-16 Screenshots

Still using my MX15/16 install on occasion. But this installation is targeted for replacement by MX19 once it's ready.

Wallpaper is an initial test by Ruud Kuin.

Re: I bricked my system... I think

Did you use efibootmgr command to set MX's bootloader as the first to boot? No point reinstalling MX yet again if SUSE is still set as the first bootloader in the EFI partition. https://linux.die.net/man/8/efibootmgr If you have already installed MX but can't boot into it, run (from live MX USB): su...

Re: I bricked my system... I think

If it's an UEFI machine, perhaps the EFI partition still records POP as the first-to-boot bootloader. I read that on System76's machines, they now use systemd-boot instead of grub, so I have no idea if POP OS when manually installed on other machines does the same thing. You may need to access BIOS ...

Re: Taking 3 to 4 minutes to boot during startup. Help

For older machines, probably makes more sense to use the Debian Stretch default kernel of 4.9.

No point moving to even newer kernels than 4.15.

Re: TAKING 3 TO 4 MINUTES TO BOOT DURING STARTUP. HELP

Just to check, this is install of the whole hard disk on your machine? No dual-boot?

You're not booting into MX using the grub of another distro on the same machine?
