Here's another idea, use AMAROK

Have you looked at 'soundkonverter' ? It's the kde front end for cd ripping.

A simple workaround is to stop grub from booting. Edit the /boot/grub/menu.lst and change "timeout 15" to "# timeout 15" and the computer will not boot until you press the enter key. Now when you getup to get that cup up coffee after re/starting your computer you don't have to worry about what OS is...

Stevo I just gave it a try and it worked, I just gave it a little boost, any more than a 1/3 boost and the sound was distorted.
