Re: Xfce power manager - auto-disable presentation mode

I think the answer here is yes. I think you can use a xfconf-query command to set the value, but I need to confirm that. If this is true, you could set an autostart command to run that takes care of it (just setting the value to "false" every boot would do the trick I think). you may want to look at...

Re: What init system do you use on MX, the default (sysVinit) or systemd?

I appreciate the questions, however this is an area that usually opens up some debate and I don't want this thread to become another rehash of past arguments. here's the short short answer: the antiX live system is designed to work with sysVinit. there are a few things that don't work under systemd,...

Re: BitJam's Latest Livecd maker.

Thanks, D_O, Does it already use his latest version? it uses the latest version available in the antiX repo. the gui we have (and that antiX uses as well) literally justs sits on top of LUM and passes the appropriate command string to LUM to make the live-USB magic happen. the only part of MX-LUM (...

BitJam's latest effort looks like the "final solution":-

I request a GUI version for MX (and other distros?).
our mx-live-usb-maker is already a frontend for BJ's live-usb-maker cli tool

So request granted

Re: new and a few questions please

ok thanks you - so not rolling releases - each must be reinstalled. and there is not long term version that will be useable with all updates and security for more than a year i take it. or am i missing something. thanks again. we are still supporting mx15 and mx16 (both debian-jessie based) until e...

Re: amdgpu drivers

The DDX driver is a separate component. https://dri.freedesktop.org/wiki/DDX/ Yes, there is the X drivers too. They should be included on MX's default iso already though that might be a place for the OP to check if they are being used. some cards support both amdgpu and radeon, and sometimes the ra...

Re: Problem setting up a sysvinit service to start on boot

I took a look at your init script.

do a

Code: Select all

 sudo update-rc.d myvpn defaults
to register all the symlinks needed.

you may also want to add "networking" to the "required-start" line of your script. Its very possible your script is starting up before the network is up, and so fails.

Re: [SOLVED] native nordvpn app on MX linux

... is there any chance to put modified version of nordvpn native app (compatible with sysVinit) to MX Test repo? I guess if we get enough positive feedback ( or no negative failure report), we might but the installer for nordvpn together with the sysVinit-fix into MX Package Installer -> Popular A...

Re: Question about program upgrades and persistence choices

static is when we leave the rootfs persistence file mounted from the disk. the default persistence mode is "dynamic" in the sense that we sync it into ram during boot, so that the rootfs is mounted in ram.
