Re: How to run bash scripts from Desktop?

Running this script from terminal with ./start_MARS.sh works, and the program is launched correctly; however, I'd like to be able to run it by simply clicking it, and right now doing this does nothing. According to Xfce.org doc Thunar hidden settings you can enable it this way running from command ...

Re: antiX /usr/local conflict

Before first boot, I repaired fstab to include the other OS and realboot partitions, plus /usr/local, which has all my apps installed from .tgzs and .zips from mozilla.org and elsewhere, as well as all my custom scripts in /usr/local/bin, and customizations in /usr/local/etc /usr/local/share. antiX...

Re: MX-19 Beta 2.1 Feedback

MX-19 Beta 2.1 installing to a partition on MBR did not add the boot flag Hi, I did an installation to an existing MBR partition table (which had 3 partitions). During installation I launched gparted and manually deleted sda1, which was an old system partition (so at this point it lost the boot fla...

Re: MX-19 Beta 2.1 did not check antiX/linuxfs integrity, result: installed system had mystic problems

So yes, I propose that it would have a significant value to include an option (e.g. a checkbox) *during the normal installation wizard* to check the intergrity of the files like antiX/linuxfs, because the normal (and expected) "safety belt" of the package managers is not there during this installat...

Re: MX-19 Beta 2.1 did not check antiX/linuxfs integrity, result: installed system had mystic problems

@fehlix it cannot be assumed that people will use Live-USB-Maker. They may use dd (like I did) or use their other favourite graphical live iso writer of their favourite/current OS. Right, so I added this "On LiveUSB created not with Live-USB-Maker you would check integrity with bootoption "checkmd5...

Re: MX-19 Beta 2.1 did not check antiX/linuxfs integrity, result: installed system had mystic problems

Hi, I installed MX-19 Beta 2.1 using a pendrive, but unfortunately the pendrive was faulty and it caused an unworkable system with several "random", unexplainable errors (such as some system file did not get installed, /usr/sbin/NetworkManager had "Exec format error", etc.). When I downloaded the i...

Re: Live Usb Maker -- "Could not find /etc/antiX/linuxfs file"

Thanks for your patience. I was indeed confusing the terms... In my second question, about update, I was asking about updating a live-installed system from an HDD-installed one. Is that what update is for? If not, what does update do? Seen this: Update allows the user to update an existing live-USB...

Re: Live Usb Maker -- "Could not find /etc/antiX/linuxfs file"

Got it. So if I don't want to create a snapshot, I boot a live flash drive, and then I can clone from an installed system. Read again: You would select either -> Clone a running LiveSystem or -> Clone an existing Live-System You "installed" System appears to by a "hdd"-installed not a Live-installe...

Re: Live Usb Maker -- "Could not find /etc/antiX/linuxfs file"

Clone a running LiveSystem is grayed out Yes, it is only available on running LiveSystem, not on hdd-installed running system. A hdd-install onto a external USB-device does not create a LiveSystem. If you want to "clone" you running "hdd"-installed system suggest to perform a snapshot, and go from ...
