Re: MX User Manager

I would like to set up a Guest account that would not require a password. Is it possible to do this? Are there risks involved in doing this, even if the Guest account is set up without any privileges? I have four computers setup at school as kiosks that autologin the account "student" which is unpr...

Perfect. With ellipsis, many would believe they can't read the entire name. I quite like the question mark icon for this.

Re: MX-18.3 RC1 Feedback

Alternatively, it could be an item on the panel, like antiX does, but I think an icon on the desktop would be better marketing for the manual than on the panel, since the default panel is already busy enough. Actually, we have an icon on the 'desktop' Oops. Of course. I must be loosing my memory.

Re: MX-18.3 RC1 Feedback

For clarity, I was contemplating the creation of a symbolic link /home/$USER/Desktop/ to the PDF. A symbolic link can carry any name, but the name should not be too long or it might wrap wonky or cut off, and it would be nice if it retained a professional appearance, like "User Manual" or "User Guid...

Re: 18.2 64-bit won't install

Your post is a bit inconsistent. Your hardware should work just fine. I assume you are running MS Windows since you mentioned Rufus, which is a Windows application. Are you unable to create the bootable USB from the downloaded ISO? You burn the MX ISO to a USB just like is done with the other distro...

Open source driver support. That's it. That's my answer. I don't know which card, but whichever will work best with open source drivers.

It's already on the Welcome screen.
Many new users would benefit from having a shortcut to the manual on their desktop. The failure to find and read the manual is epidemic. Saying so is really out of scope for RC1 feedback, but, what the heck.

Re: Trying re-install xfce

Log in as root. Open Thunar and navigate to /home/user1 then select the directories you wish to copy such as Documents, Music, Videos, etc. and choose Copy. Ordinarily, no need to log in as root. Consistent with default user file permissions, user2 can usually copy user1's data by just navigating t...

Re: Updator is broken

Cannot duplicate here on 64 bit install in VirtualBox. Cannot duplicate on my 32 bit install on 10 year old AMD box. These don't use the same repositories. No leads here.
