Re: The Hordes are coming ...

It looks as if Bluesguy may have been right. I've been seeing a lot of posts in the last two or three weeks from people coming from Ubuntu or Mint, or at least dual-booting from one of those and MX. To them, welcome to the forum and to MX!

Re: Not always getting sound

1. In a terminal type "alsamixer" <enter>, hit F5 to show all and make sure that all playback levels are set high. 2. Left-click on the speaker icon in your panel's notifications area and make sure the volume slider is all the way up, just in case the issue isn't no sound but low-level sound so you ...

Re: HELP (Smart People)--- Menus borked

I'm not particularly smart, but isn't the default Whisker menu found in /etc/skel/.config/menus? Or is that the stock Xfce menu, not Whisker? Perhaps it's /etc/skel/.conf/panel/whiskermenu-20.rc? If so this could be copied to /home/manyroads/.conf/xf4c/panel to restore the original menu, or perhaps ...

Re: Manjaro not letting me install any other OS

Can you get into your BIOS? You may need to set your USB as first boot device. Which should be F1 to enter BIOS setup, and F12 for a boot menu (in case the OP didn't know.) I would first do as timkb4cq suggested though, just to be on the safe side. It wouldn't hurt anything. I found an old Lenovo f...

Re: Distrowatch reveiw grumbles

FYI I still have that Acer Zenbook with 3200x1800 resolution and a 13.3 inch monitor. I'm still willing to test booting to a LiveUSB image that can automatically adjust scaling if anyone's working on making one. Just FYI.

You didn't break anything. It asks me for the root password too.

Re: apt update error (invalid signature)

MX Tools/MX Repo Manager has an option to automatically pick the fastest repositories for you. I don't know for sure but I imagine it will skip any unsigned ones. Thank you for the tip, that actually worked perfect with me. Anticapitalista's and fehlix's solution is actually better because it fixes...

Re: Many problems installing MX Linux alonside Windows 10

Explodingbee, it isn't MX Linux that's user-unfriendly in my opinion, it's this new-fangled UEFI (expletive deleted.) I once read a white paper sort of website about UEFI basics for beginners to that system and he mentioned that one shouldn't even attempt to dual-boot Linux and Windows or it would j...
