Re: panel covers part of windows

HiDPI support is poor in the XFCE desktop but see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HiDPI#Xfce for some tips.

Ithe directory you asked me for the content (/ sys / module / hp-wmi / parameters) does not exist
If you've blacklisted the module then the directory won't be there.

Remove the blacklist file, rebuild the initramfs again and reboot — you should then see the /sys/module/hp-wmi directory.

Re: wifi that no longer works

I'm getting bored of repeating my advice to blacklist the module, rebuild the initramfs & reboot but I'll say it just one more time...

Otherwise please post the output of

Code: Select all

ls /sys/module/hp-wmi/parameters
There may be a toggle we can use to fix this.

Re: wifi that no longer works

SIOCSIFFLAGS: Operazione non possibile a causa di un RF-kill So does the rfkill command work after you unload the hp-wmi module? sudo modprobe -r hp-wmi sudo rfkill unblock all If that does the trick then blacklist the hp-wmi module and rebuild the initramfs, as I suggested earlier in the thread.

Did you read what that vulnerability is? Very, very unlikely to affect a home user, and nothing to affect performance or longevity of the drive.
The link was intended to illustrate a general principle: that firmware updates are still issued.

Re: [Q] SSD firmware upgrade under linux

Firmware updates were sometimes needed in the early days of SSDs, but are very unlikely to be needed now. I don't think that's true, firmware updates are issued for new faults discovered on the devices. Check the note on the Crucial SSD support page: https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/support-ssd @OP: ...

Re: wifi that no longer works

What about if you blacklist the module then rebuild the initramfs and reboot? It could be disabling the interface during the boot process.

Re: wifi that no longer works

So can you remove the hp-wmi module? sudo modprobe -rv hp-wmi Or try blacklisting it: sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/hp-wifi_blacklist.conf <<<'blacklist hp-wmi' sudo update-initramfs -u -k all Then reboot. If blacklisting the hp-wmi module causes problems then remove /etc/modprobe.d/hp-wifi_blacklist.con...

Re: How to register networkwide adblocker Pi-hole's iP in MX?

There are several ways to change the nameservers used in MX. I would delete the /etc/resolv.conf symlink: sudo rm /etc/resolv.conf Then instruct NetworkManager to leave the file alone: sudo tee /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/dns.conf <<! [main] dns=none ! sudo service network-manager restart And finally...
