Re: How can I add commands to system init (SysV)?

Put it somewhere in /etc/init.d/directory. Make it owned by root (chown) and executable (chmod 755 stuff) and that it is S in the right runlevel should just work

Re: Kali Linux

Hello Sparky You are right that it is a conversation opener. If he really knew Kali he would be your boss. I am glad You said that You are the boss. So can the conversation be? to ask if he is a Certified Ethical Hacker? Is he working toward being one? If he is such a white hat guy what would his p...

Re: Conky CPU temp history graph [solved by using xfce4-hardware-monitor-plugin]

Wow.. that is a LONG bit of text. If you look up and read through the build thread a lot of questions as to why I bought/chose what I did will be answered. I have my reasons and the decision is mine to make, no matter what anyone else might think of them, nor is it going to make a difference discus...

Re: MX breaks networking for other quadruplebooting OS's

modprobe -r r8169 && modprobe r8169 as root Regrettably that did not do the trick either. I guess I will hold out over the summer and see if updates might sort this out. Otherwise maybe I'll just put MX on hold until I get a new computer. Adding hardware (though cheap) to distrohop seems not the ri...

Re: How do I make xrandr changes permanent?

Under Linux, we can very easily evaluate the state of a product, by just executing a few commands. Well, I mucked up the commands in my post 25. It might not be so easy for me. lol! This LG on Newegg is what's been tempting me -> https://www.newegg.com/lg-43mu79-b-43-uhd/p/0JC-000D-005G2?Item=0JC-0...

Re: How do I make xrandr changes permanent?

Yeah, Davo, no argument from me that I went on the cheap in purchasing this TV. But more to the backstory, before this screen, I had purchased a similarly priced, 43" LG that ran at 60 Hz right of the box. But the #1 HDMI port stopped working after a couple of weeks, so I exchanged it for another L...

Re: Conky CPU temp history graph [solved by using xfce4-hardware-monitor-plugin]

You have a high-end CPU, but it's throttled massively (and thus very energy efficient to boot) and a low-end GPU on a modern board coupled with a gigantic psu. No reason at all to ever look at temps here. No real world scenario that would ever deliver too high temps across the board. Unless you mas...

I will determine for myself what I want and don't want to see, whether it is needed or not. Nobody else but I will determine if something means nothing to me or not, thank you.

Re: Conky CPU temp history graph [solved by using xfce4-hardware-monitor-plugin]

Cpubar and Cpugraph don't follow the temperature of the CPU using a graphical display like psensor or this plugin for the panel. Those two are for the CPU load. So you're saying someone modified that code to make those two follow the temperature of the CPU and put that into a graphical display like...

Re: Test all linux versions from one site

It's back online. This always happens after a major publicity exercise online, like a big facebook push or a twitter blitz or an article in old-school media (Forbes here). Has occurred often over the past 2 years Who knows what motivated these 2 guys to display above 200+ Linux distros in a VPS/VNC/...
