Re: Some help with a new Desktop PC system plus monitor

I'd hazard a guess your proposed setup would work OOTB with MX-18. If you don't do intensive gaming you could even forego the graphics card and just use the Intel graphics which even supports 4K. Personally I do a little gaming and would opt for a GTX1070. I'm not sure what you mean by quad setup f...

Some help with a new Desktop PC system plus monitor

I've been a Linux adopter since about 1992, started playing with Mepis ever-since Warren launched the way-back-then semi-revolutionary concept of point-and-click Linux (to the masses, haha in about 2002) and was a very active forum member cq occasional code (c++, c, python etc) contributor (at times...

Re: Thoughts re: Nvidia and a refurbished PC

You get no SSD with your build, just a basic 1TB HD. Maybe you do need 32GB RAM (the more the better!) but your CPU and Graphics are very quite outdated, which massively offsets any performance gains there. I'm all in favor of good quality upper mid-range Dell refurbished stuff, but open box models...

Re: New Forum Comments

Re: Post numbers I do not know if it is the same one, but Karen has it installed on the test forum. problem with it is that the number changes order depending on whether a user has his display settings ascending or descending by time posted. So the same post can have a different number for different...

Re: New Forum Comments

random horizontal lines....have never seen this on any other web-site It's true you can't find it on other forums, not on the phpBB forum either. Can't be a software bug (because no one else has it) - just a matter of configuration. We can trust peregrine to fix it or we can help her doing it, by t...

Re: New Forum Comments

We are looking for a mod that will add the post number. So far all we have found simply add a 1, 2, 3 post number to a thread. There's this one http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/post_number_in_viewtopic/ It's a validated mod, which was written for 3.0.5 but author says it will work on all 3.0.x...

Re: New Forum Comments

Is it possible to set the forum up so that when your cursor hovers over a thread title, there's a pop-up showing part of the original post? The old forums had this, and some other Linux forums have it as well. Do not know. I will need to research. That would be a nice feature (hover/pop-up) to see ...

Re: New Forum Comments

Isn't that a browser related function? In Google Chrome I use a center click to open an external link in a new tab. A normal left click on all web sites opens an external link in the same tab. No, not really browser function ...at least, 95% of links that I click (mostly FF) do open in a new Tab as...

Re: New Forum Comments

The problem has been identified. The same issue exists with the wiki. It is a server side issue. It does not like a leading slash Thanks, that one was bugging me all day (Friday). Noticed one small glitch (sorry, didn't read the entire thread to see if it has been mentioned already). If you click o...
