So it has, Joany. I still had the tab open and F5 made the change. I'll close the tab now, and that's the last I'll see of it.

Re: How to remove the Google+ blue bar in Firefox.

Haven't seen the black box yet, but some are picked as guinea pigs for esthetic experiments. If this is a pure experiment for a few users only, they have marked you with very sticky cookies. Block all Google cookies, set up rules to keep them out. And delete those you have. They are very difficult ...

Re: MEPIS 11 Community Repo: The Firefox Thread

Upgraded to 8.0 and it seems faster than 7.0.1. No problems, although I run few add-ons (Adblock Plus and Download Helper). This is on my 4.6.5 upgrade.

Re: Howto: Recovering from a disaster (Be Prepared!)

Thanks, Danum. I had tried UTF-8 set in Configure Editor, but not in Tools, Encodings. The get-selections script now works fine.

Re: Howto: Recovering from a disaster (Be Prepared!)

I'd done that - still the same error whether marked and run as user or root.

Re: Howto: Recovering from a disaster (Be Prepared!)

I've tried both methods, and can't get either to run. The best I get is 'cannot execute binary file'. I'm lost from here.

Re: Howto: Recovering from a disaster (Be Prepared!)

I can confirm the error. I tried changing the encoding in Settings, Configure Editor, Encodings, but all seemed to give the same error. However, I went to Tools, Encoding, Unicode where ISO 10646-UCS-2 was checked and I changed this to UTF-16 and the script saved. I haven't tried running it, but it ...

Re: Poll - Happy with KDE 4 or not?

Okay if you say it works, then I will try it again, it has not happened since the start of testing M11 and I have reported it several times with no replies. Have the M11 HD, fresh install from the ISO, up and running. Plug the EXT3 external HD in, turn it on, there is the hi I am here blink and not...

Re: Poll - Happy with KDE 4 or not?

What can you not do in KDE4 that you can in KDE3 ?? Sorry, I can not help myself. In KDE3 I can plug and play, any file format external HD, In KDE4 I can only do this if I reboot the system with the external HDs turned on before the reboot. :lipsrsealed: I don't have that problem - I just checked. ...

Re: Poll - Happy with KDE 4 or not?

I'm a very ordinary user, and generally not interested in the bells and whistles of a desktop (I've only seen screenshots of the rotating cube, and haven't bothered to find out what 'compositing' means). I decided to have a look at Mepis 8.5 last May and found it OK. I still kept my 8.0 installation...
