Re: Important alerts ... email distribution

OK, but I still thinking, that the email alert could be very useful. I have no idea how many users were affected by this problem, but I am sure that email alert to all MX forum members could prevents serious troubles of many people. I agree that some form of push would be good for dire emergencies....

Re: Important alerts ... email distribution

The fix partly depends on your symptoms. If you get to a black screen when you boot then use <Alt><F2> to get to a console login screen. Then run these commands: sudo /usr/share/mx-packageinstaller-pkglist/rebuild_dkms_packages.sh sudo reboot This solution was posted in this thread: RECENT KERNEL UP...

Re: Important alerts ... email distribution

I just broke my system by the above mentioned kernel upgrade, just because I did not read this message on MX Forum. Is your system live or installed? IIUC the installed system is easy to fix. As far as the email list, I really don't know. I agree with you it would be nice if we could push out dire ...

RECENT KERNEL UPGRADE BROKE NVIDIA GRAPHICS -- SOLUTION

Some people with nvidia graphics booted to a blank screen after the recent kernel upgrade. The solution is pretty easy. After you boot to the blank screen press <Alt><F2> (both keys together) to get to a console login screen. Log in with your user name and password and then run: sudo dpkg-reconfigur...

Re: USB with Persistence after yesterdays Kernel update system not booting into XFCE Desktop

@Nilso, you should be able to get back to a working system by disabling root persistence for now. If you do please either copy or rename the file /live/boot-dev/antiX/rootfs to save your persistence changes.

I'm working on a plan to recover your changes. It may take us about 24 hours.

Re: DO NOT UPGRADE LIVE SYSTEMS WITH PERSISTENCE OR REMASTER!

If you did a remaster after the update then you should be able to get back to a working system with the "rollback" boot parameter. If you have root persistence enabled then you should be able to get back to a working system by disabling root persistence. I realize this is not an ideal solution. We f...

DO NOT UPGRADE LIVE SYSTEMS WITH PERSISTENCE OR REMASTER!

There is something about the new kernel upgrade that breaks the live system. I suspect the old kernel gets purged which removes all of its modules so your system gets crippled. Even if that is not the cause, something is causing a serious problem.

Re: USB with Persistence after yesterdays Kernel update system not booting into XFCE Desktop

Many people are experiencing this problem on their live systems after the recent upgrade. We don't yet know why. If your network is also broken then this may be hard to fix. I'm hoping someone will figure out what is causing the breakage and fix it in the repos but that doesn't seem to be happening....

Re: Update busted my system how can I get back in the door to fix it?

It must be kernel-related. I use the antiX 4.9.176 kernel patched for spectre, meltdown and zombiewoofs or whatever it's called, and haven't had any problems at *all* and was kind of wondering what all the fuss was about. In the other thread our kernel expert, Stevo said that command was supposed t...

Re: Update busted my system how can I get back in the door to fix it?

There is already a thread here with a solution. We got a bad update from upstream that has caused major problems for a lot of people. We are very sorry about that. The solution is pretty easy. I suggest you press 'e' in the bootloader and edit the line that starts with "linux" by added a "3" at the ...
