Any idea why this is happening? Is it a fault in the program itself, or something in MX?

Code: Select all

Installing default syslinux on /dev/sdc2
Using gptmbr.bin for mbr install.
Could not find resource 'data/tools/gptmbr.bin'.
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/scripts/mbusb_gui.py", line 387, in onInstall_syslinuxClick
    ret = syslinux_default(config.usb_disk)
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/scripts/syslinux.py", line 107, in syslinux_default
    mbr_install_cmd = 'dd bs=440 count=1 conv=notrunc if=' + mbr_bin + ' of=' + usb_disk[:-1]
TypeError: Can't convert 'NoneType' object to str implicitly
Aborted
I'll investigate what I can, too. Left this here so I can come back to it!

My bad — it works with an MSDOS partition table... not a GPT one.

Nope. Without any details of involved packages or system and steps performed it would be rather a guess game.
