grub2 vers. 2.04-rc1

#1

Post by peter_li » Sat Jun 15, 2019 3:01 pm

May I request this here?
It is already in Debian experimental now.

Reason:
I was informed that Oracle have it patched so that it will be able to provide two arguments to initrd.
This would help to boot Archlinux or Manjaro.

TIA
MX-18.3 kernel: 4.19.0-5-amd64
AMD Ryzen 3
8 GB RAM

Perhaps we let it go through some quality testing cycle first through sid. Would also like to have it within mx-testrepo.

Not sure what the packagers will say, but we rarely (maybe never) have packaged a release candidate.
Production: 4.15.0-1-amd64, MX-17.1, AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core, GeForce GT 630/PCIe/SSE2, 8 GB, SSD 120 GB, Data 1TB
Testing: AAO 722: 4.15.0-1-386. MX-17.1, AMD C-60 APU, 4 GB
Personal: XPS 13, 4.18.0-19.3-liquorix, 4 GB

As an experiment, builds fail for MX 18 with gcc-6 and the experimental gcc-8 which the original debian config wants, but succeed on a vanilla Buster base. So wait for MX 19 before we go further.
