The 7 day window only reflects recent activity... one RC of a major distro generates hits. I never look at anything under 3 months... less than 90 days offers too little data, no statistical significance.... just my opinion.

Yes but many do not know that. And one could argue none of the data has statistical significance.

I agree richb.... distrowatch admits their numbers are 'just for fun'. Too many people get wrapped around the distrowatch numbers axle. No matter what distrowatch says Ubuntu and Fedora are biggest...

At least MX devs and users can rejoice for a moment like those who celebrate Santa.
Distro: MX-18 Continuum
Laptop: HP EliteBook 8460p
CPU: Dual core Intel i5-2520M.
Office: LibreOffice.
Browser: Firefox (Quantum).

The thing is that neither Santa nor distrowatch provide the reason for our celebration as MX18 nears release.... as a reasonably new guy I will offer what I think the reasons for celebration are:
--- the wonderful community here; the helpful, knowledgeable, sarcastic, caring people in the forums.
--- the technical excellence of the teams and individuals supporting this distro.
--- the great reviews and recognition of excellence for this distro in the press and across the greater Linux world.
--- the innovation and tools offered here.
--- the care and patience offered to all strangers and distro seekers who meander this way.

This distro is a wonderful success by many measures. We do not need to look to distrowatch in order to affirm our community or success...

That's just an old grumpy guy's opinion... so say I.

It's a thrill to see what a single idea expressed now 5 years ago could become, thanks to the incredible mix of talents who joined us in this and to a lot of hard work!

Never doubt or question the success you and the founders have wrought Jerry!

Yes, but will it run on an Asus Eee PC? ;)

Earlier today I was pondering how far MX has come since those early attempts to build a system for your Eee PC.
Will I cry when it's all over?
When I die will I see Heaven?
