Thunar not automounting SD card [SOLVED]

#1

Post by dirtywindows » Mon May 13, 2019 7:53 pm

Already installed MX 18.2 on HDD and impressed with almost everything. Clean and fast, BUT cannot get Thunar to automount SD cards (using external USB reader). CD's automount as expected, but not SD cards in the reader (all works fine with Windows). Block device [sdd] is being detected and Thunar is configured for automounting, but no joy. I really don't want to do a fresh (re)install, especially since the issue is there even using the live USB, as shown below. Interestingly, the CD ROM [sr0] doesn't turn up when listing block devices after a HDD boot ?? Any suggestions welcome.

Code: Select all

demo@mx1:~/Desktop
$ lsblk
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
loop0 7:0 0 1.3G 1 loop /live/linux
sda 8:0 0 447.1G 0 disk
├─sda1 8:1 0 249.8G 0 part /media/demo/rootMX18.2
└─sda2 8:2 0 2G 0 part [SWAP]
sdb 8:16 1 29.9G 0 disk
├─sdb1 8:17 1 1.4G 0 part /live/boot-dev
└─sdb2 8:18 1 3.3M 0 part
sdd 8:48 1 29.8G 0 disk
sr0 11:0 1 4.4G 0 rom
TIA from a Linux noob.

But manualy mounting works, right? Only automounting is not working?
Or can you even not see the device in Thunar?

GeForce GTX 770, Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB, Seagate Barracuda 4TB

@fehlix: SD never shows up in Thunar. CD ROM does, (and Automounts OK). I'll do some more reading to try and manually mount the card, if that will help troubleshoot, but that's not suitable for daily use.

@fehlix: My bad. Combination of unformatted SD card(s) and a flaky USB socket on my very-well-used Lenovo desktop. All good now. Thanks for your time.
