This shows the current desktop in action, with the Whisker Menu (custom MX icon) adjusted for optimum viewing (Background Opacity: 75) and compactness (Whisker Menu--Appearance--Menu [Uncheck 'Show application descriptions' box], with icon size set to 'Smaller' here also). Settings Manager is currently a colour (Aussie sp) tube mixer icon for clarity on the darker background and I've added Clipman to Panel 1 (Bottom Horizontal) as I use Ctrl+C ... Ctrl+V quite a bit and would find a recent list handy. The Top right Panel 2 is geared to a tidier desktop and current administration tasks/Live USB projects and general entertainment **(Panel--Display--Measurements--Row Size: 33). * (Clicking image seems to activate the *gif animation)

In Windows Manager Tweaks--Compositor ... Opacity of window decorations

settings offer a variety of Transparency settings for:
-Windows decorations (eg. window menus)
-Inactive windows
-Windows being moved
-Windows being resized
-Popup windows (eg. Tool-tips)

I think these can work well with Panel and Whisker Menu opacity settings.
Kindly Mick

After experimenting I tried a small transparent image I'd once used as a spacer on web pages, set panel background to a background image, being a transparent one, turned of shadows on docked windows, and got the following appearance (wallpaper to highlight effect)

I've still incorporated some of the other transparent effects to accompany and can set panel opacity to provide hover feedback (small fade on leaving for top panel, fade out on leaving for bottom panel - which can work well on auto hide mode too)

Edit- a good combination here would be to set wallpaper to change wallpaper at regular intervals (Desktop Settings-Background...)

A simple blank image you can use to set as Panel background to achieve transparency

Is it only me, that I cannot access the attached pictures?
MX-14 on a Via Eden 1GHz CPU thin client, 3GB RAM, Via VX800 chipset, Via Chrome9 HC GPU, 32GB M.2 SSD;
btrfs with @ and @home subvolumes for MX-14;
added @antiX and @antiXhome subvolumes and copied antix 13.1 base into them, adjusting Grub from MX-14.

nope.
Do you mean the 'blank.gif' image? If so, you might need to drag/select to highlight the image region (outline) to identify where to click and save, it being, well blank and all? :happy:

(It could probably be resized to a smaller file size for ultimate economy, I suppose)

(I'll repost any others if that's the case)
