Kiosk

[ROUGH DRAFT!]

Introduction

For some purposes, it may be desirable to lock down an application or system in order to protect it from users. Examples include computers in a school or public location for general use, where the file system, desktop and internet access need to be closed. Full OS can be found, but this page is limited to the use of MX Linux in kiosk mode.

The user may need to proceed manually, depending on how much lock down is wanted.

Default repositories

Sources of software packages are listed in files contained in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/. Note that users may see minor changes due to localization (e.g., http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/ instead of http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/) or choice of mirror.
